and so much more!
Finally - Thank-you for allowing us to be your Companion in 2024
Whether it’s been 7 years or 1 month, thanks for sticking with us. We get so much joy from supporting you and the wider Geelong community, and look forward to new challenges and achievements in 2025.
When we asked our support team “What is your favourite thing about being a support worker?” this is what a few had to say:
“Having the privilege of supporting participants through their highs and lows and seeing outcomes achieved. Additionally providing support and at times relief from the challenges informal support people face when supporting participants”
“Making a positive difference to peoples lives”
“The amazing people you meet and get to work with. Every day is different".”
“Seeing participants overcome challenges and being empowered to live their best lives”
“Helping participants achieve their goals in life.”
“Making a real difference in someone’s life. Being able to spend time with a participant and have so much fun they giggle so much they end up crying, or when they are able to pass on a piece of advice or guidance I had given them to help someone else. Seeing the appreciation and growth that a participant may not have been able to is a special feeling.”
"My favourite thing about being a DSW is helping the client to feel included in their community.”
“I love the role of being a Disability Support Worker as I love assisting/helping people to go out into the community to participant in what they love/enjoy to do. I have lots of patience so I am happy to go at the same pace of some of my participants need to walk at or wait whilst some participants do things for themselves as they enjoy being proactive themselves. I am kind and considerate of peoples choices and only with to be a support person who helps put a bit of happiness into someone’s day”.
